Two Aertight Server Platforms can be combined to create a simple two node failover server system with only two passive ethernet cables between them.

Using network disk mirroring technology, our system allows you to eliminate the costs and potential single points of failure that otherwise accompany traditional failover server setups deployed with SANs, NAS's and Switches. The units can also be located in different geographic locations (typically within the same campus). Virtual Machines can be hosted on one of the Aertight Server Platforms, with the second system operating as a standby system which virtual machines can be automatically transferred to in case of the catastrophic failure of one node.

One of the major advantages of our Failover Server Platform is the ability for you to completely "Island" the two systems and maintain true n+1 failover redundancy. Since there are no switches or SANs between the two server platforms, deployment is easy and troubleshooting is simple. At its most basic, two passive ethernet cables are all that is required. This design helps insulate the system  from operator error, 3rd party interference (no one is rebooting a shared switch and messing up the disk traffic), and malicious individuals who could access shared resources beyond your immediate control. Security can be increased by further enclosing the two passive cables in conduit, using fiber connections instead of copper, and using shielded cables.

Optionally, Aertight has also designed a new patent pending Virtual Machine Transfer Button which provides a simple-push button for the transfer of virtual machines from one host to another. 

By eliminating the need for a SAN, NAS, and shared switches, the Aertight Failover Server Platform dramatically lowers the costs of deploying a redundant server system and increases the reliability of the entire system.
